Smoking and Asbestos

Cigarette filters in some cigarettes contained blue asbestos (crocidolite asbestos) into the filters. Blue asbestos is considered the most harmful and damaging form of asbestos due to how short and thin the fibers are. The average amount of asbestos fiber inhaled from one puff of these filters are roughly 85,000 fibers. On top of the hazards smoking brings, smoking with asbestos fibers in your lungs not only worsens the scarring of tissues in your lungs, but also increases the risk of mesothelioma and other forms of lung cancer.
