Throughout the state, tribal and county tobacco prevention and education programs are advancing critical policies and engaging community members to create healthier, tobacco-free communities. Their work is paramount to fighting big tobacco and we celebrate their progress and successes.

Here is a roundup of just some of the incredible work happening in communities across Oregon:

  • All cities in Clatsop Countyofficially signed on to tobacco retail licensing (TRL), making it a blanket policy that covers the entire county.
  • In Klamath County, the city of Klamath Falls passed a tobacco-free parks policy and also established a smoke-free events policy.
  • Harney Countyadvanced a tobacco-free government buildings proposal that will be presented to their board of county commissioners.
  • Tillamook Countypresented on the benefits of tobacco retail licensing (TRL) to five city councils.
  • Lane Countyconnected with the NAACP to discuss tobacco industry marketing tactics.
  • Crook Countylaunched a perinatal cessation project as part of their health systems strategy.
