TIPS FOR COMMUNICATING AND ENFORCING YOUR TOBACCO-FREE POLICY

1. Develop training and peer enforcement/communication protocols.

 

2. Develop procedures for enforcement by public safety, if applicable.

 

3. Form an implementation team.

4. Communicate your new tobacco-free campus policy.

 

5. Include the policy in publications, contracts, and on the website.

6. Post tobacco-free campus signs and decals.

 

7. Remove all ashtrays and smoking shelters (if applicable) from campus.

8. Create policy reminder cards.

 

9. Promote the campus as tobacco-free in marketing materials.

 

10. Include smoking cessation resources in all communications about the policy.
